Yes, very much so, our containers are recyclable and environmentally friendly. Our frosted black polypropylene jars are made from plastic destined for landfills or post industrial resin plastic (PIR), making them more environmentally friendly than traditional plastic. Not only does it minimize the use of new raw materials, it is recyclable itself..

Our products are mostly vegan (the exception is beeswax in our Lip Balms) and free of gluten.

We do not use milk or animal fats in out soaps, butters etc. All Mood Indigo products contain only food-grade vegetable oils and sustainable plant materials.

Our Soaps, Scrubs, Butters and Bath Bombs are made of 100% vegetable-based oils and butters

Our Lip Balms however, are made with Beeswax

Starches used in our Butters and Scrubs are natural and limited to Tapioca Starch.

We do not test our products on animals. Instead, I test them on myself  and my long suffering friends and family!!

Yes, we do use lye in our soap making process. Soap cannot be made without the use of sodium or potassium hydroxide. All soaps (excluding detergent bars, which are totally synthetic and chemical laden and melt and pour soaps) are made with lye but no lye is left in the finished soap. Our soaps are balanced so the chemical reaction has the correct amounts of both lye and oil for a balanced reaction. We SUPERFAT our soaps, which simply means our soaps have some extra goodies to make your skin sing.

Our soaps are colored with bits of natural ingredients like flowers, herbs, clays, powdered vegetables, fruits and spices.

You will never find the following “dirty” ingredients in our products:

Diethanolamine (DEA), Monoethanolaniine (MEA) &  Triethanolamine (TEA)

Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) and Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT)

cocamidopropyl betaine

DMDM & Urea (Imidazolidinyl)

Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

Parabens (Methyl, Butyl, Propyl)

We work really hard to create products that are preservative free. Which is why it’s important to keep moisture away from your scrubs and butters. We count on some preservative benefits in our oils (eg: grapeseed and Vitamin E) but mostly create products that do not use water, as water tends to harbor bacteria.

Because our products are all natural it is best to use them up with gusto. I've discovered Mood Indigo Bars that I'd tucked away in a drawer for close to two years and they are still wonderful! The scent fades over time but it is still a great bar of soap. For optimal longevity, keep your Mood Indigo Soaps  in a well-drained soap dish between uses.

The balms,  butters and scrubs should probably be used within a year of the purchase date as they are preservative free. Keep all products out of direct sunlight and heat. You can even put them in the refrigerator to extend their shelf life.

All Natural and 100% Junk Free! Our bars are created with all-natural vegetarian oils, pure botanical essential oils & natural botanical colorants.  Soap is made through a process called saponification. It’s when a fat (coconut, olive, palm and rice bran oils ) is mixed with an alkali (wood ash or sodium hydroxide) thereby creating glycerin and soap. Commercial soap makers frequently remove glycerin to be sold off in more profitable ventures like cosmetics, inks, medicines, animal feed and even explosives.  We however, don’t separate out the goodstuff.

Our soaps are full of wonderfully healthy and emollient vegetable  oils, natural scents and colors. Each soap has a unique, botanical scent concocted from therapeutic grade essential oils and bits of natural ingredients like flowers, herbs, clays and spices. Our scents are subtle, and evocative and tend not to overwhelm the senses like artificial fragrances in most soaps. The two exceptions we’ve made (due to high customer demand) utilize Pthalate-free premium quality fragrance oils. We want you to have happy, vibrant skin while being as eco-friendly as possible.
